Job and The Science of Getting Rich - Part 5
Job 5
1Call now, if there be any that will answer thee; and to which of the saints wilt thou turn?
2For wrath killeth the foolish man, and envy slayeth the silly one.
3I have seen the foolish taking root: but suddenly I cursed his habitation.
4His children are far from safety, and they are crushed in the gate, neither is there any to deliver them.
5Whose harvest the hungry eateth up, and taketh it even out of the thorns, and the robber swalloweth up their substance.
6Although affliction cometh not forth of the dust, neither doth trouble spring out of the ground;
7Yet man is born unto trouble, as the sparks fly upward.
8I would seek unto God, and unto God would I commit my cause:
9Which doeth great things and unsearchable; marvellous things without number:
10Who giveth rain upon the earth, and sendeth waters upon the fields:
11To set up on high those that be low; that those which mourn may be exalted to safety.
12He disappointeth the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot perform their enterprise.
13He taketh the wise in their own craftiness: and the counsel of the froward is carried headlong.
14They meet with darkness in the day time, and grope in the noonday as in the night.
15But he saveth the poor from the sword, from their mouth, and from the hand of the mighty.
16So the poor hath hope, and iniquity stoppeth her mouth.
17Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty:
18For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.
19He shall deliver thee in six troubles: yea, in seven there shall no evil touch thee.
20In famine he shall redeem thee from death: and in war from the power of the sword.
21Thou shalt be hid from the scourge of the tongue: neither shalt thou be afraid of destruction when it cometh.
22At destruction and famine thou shalt laugh: neither shalt thou be afraid of the beasts of the earth.
23For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.
24And thou shalt know that thy tabernacle shall be in peace; and thou shalt visit thy habitation, and shalt not sin.
25Thou shalt know also that thy seed shall be great, and thine offspring as the grass of the earth.
26Thou shalt come to thy grave in a full age, like as a shock of corn cometh in in his season.
27Lo this, we have searched it, so it is; hear it, and know thou it for thy good.
This is the first speech by one of Job's friends, and it's delivered by Eliphaz.
Job's friends have come to comfort him because, as you saw in earlier chapters, a lot of bad things have happened to Job. Neither Job, nor his friends, know anything about Satan's schemes in heaven, so they will try to reason out why what has happened to Job has happened.
There's only one problem here. Because they don't know about Satan's schemes, they will arrive at some wrong conclusions.
Although I will be the first to admit that I don't know all of the answers, what I have learned is that often when we get ourselves in trouble we can often blame God for it. God only wants our good, and sometimes He does allow things to happen to us to help us grow. Most of the suffering in the world though, is definitely the result of sin.
However, in this situation, it's something different. It's the struggle between good and evil, between God and Satan, and unfortunately, as God's creation, we sometimes get caught in the middle.
In this case, Job has been caught in the middle. I personally cannot even begin to imagine his suffering. I admire the way he responds to it. I appreciate how his friends care enough that they would come to comfort him.
However, Eliphaz seems to think that Job isn't trusting in God or doesn't have a solid relationship with God, so in verse eight, he tells Job to turn to God. He also suggests in verses 17 through 27 that if Job would repent of his sins, God would forgive him and his troubles would go away.
One of the first things I do when troubles come in my life now is to look at my part in it. If there's sin there, I've learned to seek forgiveness, and more importantly, to forgive myself. If I can't see my part in it, then I pray for God to show me. If I still don't see it, then I know there's more going on than just something I've done. That's when I pray harder. I trust God. I often don't understand why He does what He does, but the Bible says that God's ways are not our ways (Isaiah 55:8-9). It also so that everything works for the good of those who love God (Romans 8:28).
All I can say is that when tough times come, we have to trust God. We will show us the way and protect us. The outcome may not be what we want, but God knows better, and it will be what's right for us.

Where to Find The Best Christian and Family Friendly Movies
I'm not sure about you, but I'm sick of most of the movies that come out of Hollywood. I recently watched Transformers, and although I think it was a cute movie, they had to ruin it by talking about masturbation in the movie. That blew it for making it a kid friendly movie that children would enjoy.
What's worse, is that Transformers had a really great message: that we all have the right to freedom and self determination. Pretty heady stuff considering most of what comes out of Hollywood is shallow.
I happened to stumble upon this site after Angela Walker posted a comment on my blog. It was when I did the review of Six: The Marked.
So, I checked out the site, and I have to say I'm impressed. This just isn't a site full of Christian movies. There's so much more.
First, Angela writes a terrific blog. Not only does she mention new movies at Christian Cinema, but she also talks about the movie industry as a whole. It changed my perspective on the whole thing because although I do love Christian movies, and I know there are some good ones out there, some of this stuff is just plain badly acted, and you sometimes get drowned in the message.
So maybe I'm being greedy. I love a good story. A good story that makes me feel good. I love a good story where the good guys win and the bad guys lose. Although the Passion of the Christ may not seem like that, it most certainly touches on the themes of "love conquers all", "good triumphs over evil."
You'll find tons of good stories, i.e. movies to watch here, as well as tons of reviews on why these movies are so good. There's also a movie rental club, so if you don't want to buy, you can always rent.
One of the things about being a Christian is that it's often tough to find good resources to share with you, resources that will uplift you and strengthen your Christian life. This site will do it, and I highly recommend you check it out. Make sure you sign up for the ezine because it's definitely worth reading.

Social Networking: How to Promote Your Business and Website
If you are new to starting an online business, you're probably wondering how to get traffic. I know this is the number one question I get from those who are new to internet marketing.
Although there are many ways to get traffic online, if you use paid traffic techniques, it can quickly get expensive.
If you're new to internet marketing, and you're working on a small or non existent budget, you can still get a lot of traffic to your website using free techniques. The easiest way to do this is to start with social networking sites because you can piggybank onto their high traffic and use these sites to start building targeted traffic to your own site.
First, you need to choose the social networking sites you will market on. I recommend starting small to get your feet wet. This means joining one or two general social networking sites like MySpace or Facebook, and then joining one or two topical social networking sites. When joining topical network sites, you want to join sites that have a fairly large number of subscribers and are active. Inactive sites won't do you a lot of good in marketing your business.
Once you join the social networking site, set up your profile. Make sure you add a link to your site in your profile and tell others what your business is about. Let others know you have an ezine or subscription list and tell them they can get more information. If possible, include a subscription box right in your profile. If you can create a simple table, you can do this.
Start making friends. You want to do a search on the site for your topic. You may have to search several times, as well as change your keywords, but keep searching until you find the type of people you are looking to connect with. To make it easier to connect with you, make sure you include the appropriate keywords in your profile and include information on the type of people you want to connect with. Once your friend request has been approved, then post a comment on the person's profile. Say thank you and then include a link to your site, as well as a little information about your business. (Avoid the flashy graphics though. You're a business
owner, not looking for a date.)
Next, look for groups and forums on your topic. Look for groups and forums that have a lot of members and get involved in the conversation. Include a signature with every post you make.
Don't go overboard though when writing your signature. You should only include one link and make sure tha you use your keywords as the anchor text (the text others will click on to go to your site). You want to write a signature that will compel others to click on your link, yet avoid offering a blatant sales pitch. Offer valuable, and real, information to get others to click your link.
Some social networking sites will have free classifieds, and others won't. If the site does have free classifieds, then be sure and post an ad. Try to give away something free, like a subscription to your ezine, an ebook, or something like that.
If you have a talent for video, then you should definitely create videos to share on these sites. If you can upload videos to the site to share with others, then you should definitely do so. If not, try to at least embed a video into your profile to make your profile sticky.
How you promote on social networking sites is only limited by your imagination. Just make sure you avoid spamming, as well as obtrusive sales pitches that might annoy your audience.

Social Networking: How to Promote Your Blog
Blogging is one of the easiest ways to get high rankings in the search engines. If you can pick a popular topic that you're passionate about and then write about it, you can get a lot of readers.
The problem is that a lot of bloggers rely on search engines as their main source of traffic. If you write on a topic that's pretty competitive, it makes it very hard to get your blog to rank high, and you won't get many visitors, much less find the readers who may be looking for what you are writing about.
So, to get more traffic to your blog, you need to find more ways to promote. One easy way to do this is with social networking sites. The advantage of using a social networking site is that you have a lot of options when promoting.
Your first step, when promoting on a social networking site is to make sure that you add a link to your blog in your profile. This lets others know that you have a blog, and they can decide whether or not to click over to your blog and read it.
If you don't have a blog, then you have the option of using the blog available on the social networking site, if one is offered. This will allow readers to read your content. You can post your product reviews, articles, tutorials, and even videos or audios you've found on your topic. The only disadvantage I see here is that although your blog posts may be public on these sites, it won't be picked up by the search engines, so it's best to have an external blog and then cross post some of your entries to the social networking site. Also, you need to be careful about making your content too commercial. Otherwise, you might get banned from the site.
If the social networking site allows you to add RSS feeds, then you should add your blog RSS feeds to your profile. This saves you the time of posting any blog entries to your profile, as your blog entries will automatically show up on your profile. Sites like Orkut, that don't offer blogs, give you this option.
I like using RSS feeds for mine because it allows me to create a profile that's constantly updated, always providing new content to my visitors and readers. Another advantage here to using RSS feeds is that readers will have to click through to your blog to read the entire post. If you offer an email subscription, then this gives you another opportunity to get the reader to subscribe to your blog.
If the site offers forums or groups, make sure you add a link to your profile in your signature file. You just need to know a little HTML in order to code your link unless the site offers an editor that will code it for you. Again, avoid being too commercial. Your goal is to get others to click through your link to your blog and subscribe, not sell them something.
Finally, many of these sites have private messaging, as well as bulletins you can send out. When sending out private messages, you don't want to spam or just try to sell the person something. Make sure you are friends first. With bulletins, try to write a catchy headline and make your bulletin newsworthy. You want to use a soft sell. Don't make others feel like they're being sold to.
